Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline Project, Malaysia

• Extremely harsh terrain, made up of rocky, mountainous slopes with an altitude of up to 3,300 feet dense forests, swamps and palm oil plantations
• 76° steep slopes were encountered, and the undulating terrain resulted in 39 per cent of the pipeline consisting of field cold bends – a total of 16,380
• Air crane helicopters for the transportation of pipes and bends were used for hauling and stringing of 35 km stretch
• Pipeline construction involved as many as 3,000 crossings, including:

      - eight major and 1,719 minor river crossings

      - 29 major (including 17 Thrust Borings) and 1,086 minor road crossings

      - 24 horizontal directionally drilled (HDD) crossings
