Entrusted with the substructure and earthworks contract for the Changi General Hospital, Sembawang E&C undertook the construction of the hospital development’s 3-level basement and the largest raft foundation in Singapore using the ‘open-cut’ method of excavation.
Exercising disciplined logistics control and project planning, Sembawang E&C performed seven large continuous concrete pours, the largest number of concrete pours in a single project in Singapore, each lasting about 52 hours. Temperature controlled chilled concrete and special portland blast furnace cement were used in the operation with each pour 8,000m3.
